Q:

It seems that there is a way to copy files from the SDcard to a dropbox account. I have not figured out how to get this to work. Is this still possible to do?

  1. Hi Jo,

Thanks for your question. You mean you want to send your cameras files on your SD card to your Dropbox?

To set the camera to upload video file to Dropbox, the related settings is easy to configure. Please see the following steps:
    1. Please access into the web page of the camera, here is the article for how to access the web page https://support.titathink.com/docs/titathink-hidden-cameras/setup-via-web-application/1-access-web-application/
    2. Please go to Task->Task Management->Enable “Send files in storage to FTP server” and click Apply to save.

    3. -> Click the blue link of “Send files in storage to FTP server”-> Choose Dropbox and then click “Authorization” button to setup the details, you just need to following steps to finish the setup.

For the Remote path field, you can leave blank if you don’t need camera to store in specific folder. Or you can enter a folder name which existed on your Dropbox, for example, I have a folder named “hellocamera” in the Dropbox, so I will enter /hellocamera.

By the way, if you want the camera successfully upload video file to the Dropbox, you must ensure the camera has a SD card plugged, and this SD card must work fine.
This is very important tip, because the theory of uploading to Dropbox is the video file will be uploaded directly by camera from SD card to Dropbox, Once a video file uploaded successfully, the video file will be deleted from SD card.

Hope you found the above information to be helpful, should you have further question, please feel free to let me know.
    Have a nice day.

  2. Hi Mary,

I did manage to follow your instructions to connect my dropbox account successfully. I have come across another issue though. I have set up my camera to record 1200 sec (20min) under the “Task Management” -> “Record to storage continuously”. I also set “Send files in storage to FTP server” to be a folder in my dropbox account. I have verified that clips of 1200 sec are being recorded. However after the time that all my clips were supposed to be copied to my dropbox folder I find that only a few clips are saved but these clips are only a few seconds each. All my clips on the SDCard are erased which I expected but I expected to see them all in my dropbox folder which they are not.

Can you help me figure out what I am doing wrong please?

I have screenshots below to try aid my description.

  3. Hi Jo,

Thanks for your email and we are glad to serve you.

It seems the problem was caused by the SD card. Because when the SD card fails to upload the videos files to your Dropbox, the camera doesn’t know whether the SD card uploads files successfully or not. The camera just deletes the SD card’s videos after they are being uploaded to your Dropbox. So please take the SD card out after you powered off the camera and check your SD card on your computer works good or not. And then put it back on your camera.  Then the problem will be solved.

2, When your camera powers off or the Internet is off during the SD card is uploading files on your Dropbox, the problem will also happens. In order to avoid the problem, we suggest you enable your watchdog like the attachment.

Please take a try and if you have any further questions, please let us know.

    Have a nice day

    Mary

    Hi Mary,

I followed your instructions on setting the watchdog timer per your attachment. I also put the MiniSD card in my PC. It was read by PC and I could see files but said there was an issue. I pressed “Scan & Fix” and it said it completed successfully. I reinserted MiniSD card with camera powered off. After switching on, I also then “Formatted” the card using the camera interface.

However, the camera is still not copying all my 1200 sec clips to dropbox. It copies a few files but they are still of arbitrary length and time. I still can’t get this to work properly. Any other tips I should try?

    Thanks

    Hi Mary,

I have now tried a few different MiniSD cards and each time the result is the same. Is there something wrong with my camera? Or perhaps a bug in the firmware revision I have? Surely not all my MiniSD cards are damaged?

    Thanks,

    Jo

  7. Hi Jo,

Thanks for your email and sorry for the problem is still not resolved.

1, Please check your Internet works very well or not. If the Internet doesn’t work very well, it will cause the problem.

2, If it is not the Internet problem, please visit the http://x.x.x.x/debug/syslogd.htm to get the log file and send it to us to analyze. Where the x.x.x.x is the IP address of your camera, you can find the camera’s local IP address on the “System” web page of your camera.

Thanks for your understanding and efforts in advance.
We are here waiting for your kindly reply.

    • @Mary Tang: Hi Mary,

I think my internet connection is pretty good. I have the contents of the log file. Where can I send this to you so you can help analyze? I’d prefer not to attach it here.

      Thanks,
      Jo
